How To Organize Your Storage Unit Without Frustration

If you are like a lot of people, you dread packing up your things for the storage unitsbecause it feels as though you are never going to see any of that stuff again. Well, at least it feels like it is going to be a very long time thanks to the fact that so many things tend to get lost in these little sheds. However, that is not something that you have to worry about if you are taking the time to make sure that you are properly organizing your storage unit.

Check out the following tips in order to help you achieve such success with your rented storage unit:

Use The Three Walls

You will want to make sure that you are categorizing your items according to where they belong in your home and in your life. For example, all boxes filled with decorations can sit along the very back wall. You can then put all interior items against one wall and all lawn and garden or automotive items against the last wall. This way, when you open the storage unit door, you will know which direction to head in when looking for something specific.

Color Code Everything

There are many ways to do this, but it is important to make sure that you are creating a chart. This way, you will not forget which color represents what. One way to tackle this is to use different colors of permanent marker or even duct tape when labeling and securing the boxes.  For example, you can use black marker for anything meant for the outdoors.

You can use a red marker for anything that involves the holidays. Then you can use a blue marker for all indoor items. Of course, you are going to want to select your own personal color code that will be easy for you to remember.

Attach Pictures To The Boxes

Have you ever found yourself wondering what was in a box but did not want to break the tape to find out? You never have to deal with that problem again if you simply follow this tip. Before sealing the boxes that are meant for the storage unit, you are going to want to take a quick picture of what is in the box.

After you have sealed the box, you can tape the printed picture to the front of the box so that it can be easily seen if it was on a shelf or stacked on another box. This way, with a quick glance, you will be able to see what is in the box.

By making sure that you are following the previously mentioned tips, you should have absolutely no problems creating an organized storage unit and keeping it that way.
